The Bearwood Street Festival returns!
Bearwood Street Festival is making a comeback. On Sunday 9 June, 2019 Bearwood’s high
street and surrounding spaces will host a day-long celebration for local residents and the
wider public.
The community-led festival will include a line-up of bands and artists coordinated by
voluntary group Bearwood Promoters, reflecting the area’s eclectic musical heritage. Along
with a full arts programme featuring spoken word performance and roaming theatre.
Festival goers can also look forward to arts and crafts stalls, a dedicated arts and play area
for children and a new food and drink court.
The free festival first took place in June 2017 and was a roaring success, with a turnout of
over eight-thousand people from the local and surrounding areas. After a fallow year in
2018, the festival returns with plans to extend beyond Bearwood’s high street with more
stalls, street food, activities and performances.
Festival Co-organiser Fiona Pitt, said: “Bearwood Street Festival is back and it’s going to be
bigger and better than ever before. This year the event will stretch past the main high street
into different areas of the neighbourhood. By using this extra space, we’ll be able to put on
more activities for everyone to come and enjoy. We are excited to be back and hope we
achieve an even bigger turn out.”
The free event is organised by local volunteer group ‘We Are Bearwood’ and their countless
and tireless fellow volunteers. We are Bearwood has received funding for the festival
from Arts Council England, The National Lottery Communities Fund and Creative Black
Country.
The street festival will start on Sunday 9 June at midday, ending at 6pm in the evening. For
